Hidea Easy small horsepower electric outboards

At the recent China International Boat Show, Hidea formally announced the release of their new small horsepower Easy electric outboard motors. Due to start shipping very shortly, they will be available in 3 models, Easy 500 (0.5 kW), Easy 1000 (1.0kW)and Easy 1500 (1.5kW).

I previously had an opportunity to test their development 1.0kW motors on a 3.3m aluminium jon boat and with two people on board, it made a top speed of 10 kph. The motors all feature a built-in EVE lithium battery located in the shaft that is readily accessible should it be required. Recharging the battery is done via a plug-in waterproof port and from flat to full charge is about 4 hours. The Easy 500 features a 24V battery system, whilst the other two use a 48V battery. A colour digital display provides the user with useful information such as current draw, speed over water, time remaining etc.

They weigh 7.9kg, 13.3kg and 22.4kg, so light enough for most people to carry. The tiller handle is tiltable upwards or downwards and feels comfortable in the hand when using the motor. Simply turn to go forwards or backwards, very simple.
